for healing trauma and boosting self-esteem

Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR) is an evidence-based, mind-body modality originally used to treat post-traumatic stress disorder (PTSD). Created by psychologist, Francine Shapiro, EMDR utilizes both cognitive and somatic therapeutic elements. EMDR treatment accesses memories stored in the emotional (or limbic) brain where trauma can get stuck, and moves these memories into the verbal and logical part (neocortex) of the brain.

In addition to trauma (and complex trauma), EMDR can help treat anxiety disorders, depression, addictive behavior problems, pain, moral injury, and self-esteem issues.

EMDR involves 8 Phases, and we begin with an assessment and grounding techniques to prepare you for further stages. Though it has many phases, EMDR can be a faster route to processing and healing from trauma than other cognitive methods of therapy (such as CBT).
